“Wrestling’s not faaaaaaaaaake!”

About fifteen years ago Hollywood released “Ready to Rumble”, a full-length comedy based on World Championship Wrestling.  During a time when the WWF was slaughtering them on a weekly basis, it was strange to see WCW get the spotlight in a feature film.  The film was a box-office flop but is considered a cult-classic by many wrestling fans, while others completely despise it.  After a conversation with Brand member “Marty” on Twitter last night about the film, I decided to pull out my DVD copy and watch “Ready to Rumble” for the first time in around ten years.  

The movie was filmed in 1999 not long after Eric Bischoff was fired from WCW (and before Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara joined), so the wrestling product featured is heavily consistent with what WCW television was producing in tha...

First off, I want to state that I am not by any means a John Cena hater.  I’m quite the opposite.  I enjoy the man’s work and consider him one of the all-time greats.  Any criticisms I’m about to discuss are in regards to the way the John Cena character was handled on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

I think it is a mistake to have Cena kiss the fans’ butts after they boo him.  For those that missed last night’s episode, Cena came out to a lot of heat from the English crowd.  The “John Cena sucks” sing-a-long with his entrance music was louder than usual.  Cena then proceeded to put over the crowd.  He mentioned how they are one of the best crowds in the WWE Universe, even though they don’t always “see eye to eye.”  He finished off the public suck-up fest by saying that he thinks London deserves to host Wrestl...

I can’t tell you how excited and honored I am to be joining Vince here on The RELM Network.  Actually, I can.  I am beyond ecstatic.  Since August of last year, I have had the opportunity to be a contributing member to this wild ride called The Brand.  It is only going to get better from here.
