Main article: History of professional wrestling

Originating as a popular form of entertainment in 19th-century Europe[3] and later as a sideshow exhibition in North American traveling carnivals and vaudeville halls, professional wrestling grew into a standalone genre of entertainment with many diverse variations in cultures around the globe, and is now considered a multi-million dollar entertainment industry. While it has greatly declined in Europe, in North America, it has experienced several different periods of prominent cultural popularity during its century and a half of existence. The advent of television gave professional wrestling a new outlet, and wrestling (along with boxing) was instrumental in making pay-per-view a viable method of content delivery.

Obviously, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet---especially wrestling related. Take it from me, a guy who was sworn to be meeting with, hired by and working for Lucha Underground, when in truth I had never even met the person who was almost guaranteed to be hiring me. That story was “created” when I simply visited the organization  six weeks ago to get content for my website.

HOWEVER---when you see a story surface numerous times, even though it may not be the “exact” truth, as many wrestling stories reported aren’t, there just might be some shred of credence to it. Don’t understand that, and never will. What is it? Is it a feeling of power, or superiority to sit back and attack someone through a computer screen knowing that there are no consequences to pay, other than to be BLOCKED the second your words hit the screen? What’s in it for these people, honestly? What’s the payoff---satisfaction?

For years I didn’t want to have anything to do with social media, for the exact reasons I’m typing about here. I know there are droves of people out there who “personally” hate me over one meaningless wrestling angle, or another, but to actually have to hear, and deal with tho...
