Matt Cain had an MRI taken on his right forearm yesterday, after it stiffened up on him after his last spring start. Results of the test should come in today.
Mets closer Jenrry Mejia will fly back to New York today to get his elbow checked after feeling tightness while warming up in the bullpen during yesterday’s game. Jeurys Familia will be taking over the closer duties for the Mets should Mejia be out for a prolonged period of time.
The Dodgers went to Chris Hatcher to pitch the ninth inning, earning the save in the Dodgers 6-3 victory over the Padres. Joel Paralta was called in to pitch the 8th when the score was tied at 3. Hatcher was effective and got the done, so look for Don Mattingly to stick with this order until Kenley Jensen returns.
Jason Grilli got the first call out of the Braves bullpen with Craig Kimbrel being traded to San Diego. The job looks to be Grill’s, with Jim Johnson waiting in the wings should he falter.
