MICHELLE BEADLE/WWE THOUGHTS
ESPN personality Michelle Beadle had this to say on Twitter following Triple H’s tweet in support of Floyd Mayweather:
“I've loved @WWE for a long time. But @TripleH and his love for a serial abuser is too much. I'm turning in my fan card. #WasFunWhileItLasted ”
Along with CNN’s Rachel Nichols, Beadle has been vocal about Mayweather’s history of domestic violence being swept under the rug in order to promote him as a great athlete. Both journalists were reportedly banned from attending the fight by Mayweather’s camp.
Beadle has openly been a huge supporter of WWE and has even been promoted on RAW during events that she has attended. Now, she has publically bashed the company because one of its top executives is a Mayweather supporter.
I fully agree with Beadle as far as Mayweather is concerned. I think he is a garbage human being. He has repeated domestic violence issues, while never having remorse or learning from his poor choices. Where offenders like Ray Rice have gotten help and seem to be trying to turn their lives around, Mayweather continues down the same path. People like him do not deserve the spotlight they are given, no matter how talented they are athletically. It is a terrible business move for Triple H to continue to associate himself with the likes of Mayweather, as this tweet by Beadle proves.
I don’t know if I agree with her no longer supporting WWE. Obviously it is her personal choice, so for her it is the right one, but I’m thinking about all the other individuals associated with the company. Should talents like John Cena, Randy Orton, Paige, Lilian Garcia, etc. lose Beadle’s support because of Triple H being a fan of Mayweather? In Beadle’s opinion, yes. I can’t stand NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, but I’m not going to stop supporting my Buffalo Bills because of it.
I don’t think AT ALL that Triple H is endorsing Mayweather’s personal life. I think he is a fan of the man in the ring, and has had good personal interactions with him in WWE. However, if Beadle doesn’t want to support Triple H anymore then I completely understand. It is her right. I just don’t know if she should be taking this out completely on the entire company of individuals who work hard on their own and are now guilty by association. Also, this is still Vince McMahon’s company. Triple H just works there.
I hope Ms. Beadle continues to stand her ground as far as Mayweather is concerned. I just don’t know if taking her frustration out on all of WWE’s employees is the right way to do it. Don’t let one man’s fandom of a boxer ruin your entire enjoyment of a product. There is more to the WWE than Triple H.
