TELLING MY STORY
I get asked from time to time about what I did in wrestling prior to joining up with Vince on his previous website and now here on The RELM Network. I’ve been accused of being “just a fan” whose opinions “nobody cares about.” I’ve never really discussed in full detail my career in wrestling besides a small blurb on my website and occasional references when it fits into a topic that I may be covering.
Last week I made the decision to tell me story. The entire tale from the moment I decided I wanted to be in the wrestling business all the way through today working with the guy that inspired me to get into the business in the first place. I will be publishing this story as my second book.
It isn’t a story of triumph, championships, fame or riches. It is a true and honest look at the journey of somebody who went after their dream of becoming a writer for the WWE, only to not achieve it. It’s a glimpse into one story out of thousands of people who have tried to make it in this business, and to this day are STILL trying.
Everything I went through will be covered. I’ll talk about writing for a dirt sheet, getting involved with a wrestling school, uprooting my life for the dream, having the chance to book matches with big names such as C.M. Punk, and the day a legend in the business tried to get me fired from a job I wasn’t even getting paid for.
I hope this is something that will be of interest to members of The Brand, wrestling fans, or anyone who is trying to make it in the business. I’ll end this blog with an excerpt from an early chapter .
”This is when I decided I wanted to write wrestling. Many people have a defining moment where they decided what they want to do with their life and this was mine. I have no doubt in my mind that I was meant to view this Survivor Series. Fate, Kismet, God Himself – whatever force you believe maps our journey - placed me in front of this show to see what I would do with it. I know that if I didn’t see this event, I would never have had the motivation or desire to get into wrestling. Suddenly, I had faith that there was something out there that I would be good at.
I wanted to make people feel like I felt that night. I wanted to craft sports entertainment storylines that would make people proud to watch wrestling. I wanted to be a genius like Vince McMahon was for developing that unbelievable swerve with The Rock.
Unbeknownst to me at the time was that it was not McMahon, but another Vince that was responsible for this complex story that floored me with its brilliance and inspired me to make a very unique career choice.”
